DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

Tech Support Pits:
From Ryby===
Dear Webby,
What's an EPS file?
Are they safe to open?
Why do people use them ?
Ruby
Dear Ruby
Files with an EPS extensions are either an Encapsulated
Post Script file or a virus.
If you scan them first with a good virus scanner, they can
be quite safe.
Why people use them ? I can't think of a single good
reason for using them.
Usually you can pull them apart with PSP (PaintShopPro)
and get at the picture that is in it. After that, the pictures
can be used normally, as if they had been sent as JPG
or GIF in the first place.
