DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

Tech Support Pits column from Dear Webby's Humor Letter of
04/18/04: Dates in Excel
Tech Support Pits:
From Bernd===
Dear Webby,
In Excel , I am able to enter Dates from 1900 Jan 01
onwards and have them accepted as date format for
calculation of age.
I cannot however input any dates prior to that which I
find very frustrating.
Is there something I should be doing or another routine
so I can calculate years from dates before and after
the year 1900.
Thanks for any assistance
Bernd
Dear Bernd
To go back before 01/01/1900 you have to use Quattro
from Corell Office.
It goes back to 01/01/1600
If you want to calculate back further than that, you'll
have to scrounge up a copy of Quattro for DOS.
Quattro will read all of your Excel files and allow you
to save them in Excel format, or Quattro format, or even
as HTML web pages.
You can get last year's version of Corell Office at e-bay
for around $5 - $10.
Have FUN
