DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

Tech Support Pits column from Dear Webby's Humor Letter of

Tech Support Pits:
From Ross===
Dear Webby,
Here is a good hotspots directory:

Dear Ross
Thanks for that excellent link!
Since nobody can remember a link that long, I made a
fast GoTu for it:

http://jos.org/hotspots
For those who don't know what a hotspot is, here is a
brief explanation:
With a $25 wireless network card in your laptop, you can
connect to a high-speed Internet connection. Just like a
wireless network can provide connectivity in an office, it
can also do the same in an entire hotel, without having
to put cables into each room. Usually that wireless
connectivity area leaks out into the parking lot.
There are also a lot of restaurants that provide wireless
connectivity to their visitors. Areas of connectivity are
called hotspots.
Hotspots in airports charge you, often by the minute or
quarter hour. Hotels and restaurants normally provide
connectivity for free.
