DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

Tech Support Pits column from Dear Webby's Humor Letter of
06/22/06: Cheap MS Office 2003
Tech Support Pits:
From Dianne===
Dear Webby
can u help me find MS Office 2003? I guess.
this dang xp home doesn't read my xl files.
Lord, I don't want to have to do them all over again
and 300$ is a little out of my league at the moment.
Dianne
Dear Dianne
Just get Corell Office from SoftwareOutlet
You don't need the newest version.11, 10, 9, even 8 will
read all your Excel and WORD files. Quattro has help for
Excel users built in and even lets you run it in Excel mode.

CD
They currently list it at $9.99 for the Version 12 OEM CD
It's actually intended for computer builders, but Corell
does not seem to mind.
By the way, that $9.99 price is a 24 hour special to drag
you into their store, just like the supermarket sometimes
sells coffee at below cost, just to drag you in there.
If you ever wanted a legit version of the better of the two
major office suites, get your buns in gear and get it!
Downtown it's about $300, and Programmer's paradise
lists it at $132.
Have FUN!
