DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

Tech Support Pits column from Dear Webby's Humor Letter of
07/28/05: How long to make money on the net?
Tech Support Pits:
From Goldie===
Dear Webby,
How long does it take to make any real money on the net?
Thanks
Goldie
Dear Goldie
That depends.
If you insist on doing it your way and personally making
every mistake yourself, while you re-invent the wheel, it
will take thee lifetimes, or maybe four.
If you think that an internet business, or ANY business
is free, it will take even longer. Then you will never make
any money.
Sure, it's a lot cheaper to start a business on the net than
downtown, but it's not free.
The net is all about getting information fast, and preferably
condensed down to just what one needs. That is especially
true for information on how to make a decent living on the
net.
Getting an MBA will get you a lot more information, and
cost you a lot more than getting just what you need right on
the net. It's a no-brainer to figure out who will get you
more USEFUL information, a professor who drives a Pinto
and who has never run a business himself, or a coach that
drives sports cars and has been successful in business
for a while.
I'm not suggesting that you jump into $5,000 on-line seminars
by top coaches like Joe Vitale for advanced business people,
who have already have some experience. Save that for when
you want to double your on-line income from $5,000 to
$10,000 a month.
Start with free courses to learn the basics, but take them
just as serious as if you had paid big money for them!
Then get narrowly targeted specialty courses that teach
exactly what you need next. Those are quite affordable and
help you to start making bankable money.
Have FUN!
