DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.

Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear Webby Humor Letter.

This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

Have FUN!

08/15/04: Home made screensaver

Tech Support Pits:
From Betty=== Dear Webby, Keep up the good work! Anyway, the reason I'm writing is that in one of your tech tips several months ago you had a screensaver that warped a cat's face, and I downloaded it. My husband up?graded my computer to 2000 and I forgot to save the addy of the screensaver. Would you be able to repeat it? Would be appreciative. I also appreciate your tech tips. Thank you much. Betty Dear Betty That was not a program, just a setting. For pictures you need bitmaps (.bmp) for this to work. Right-click on the desktop and choose Properties. Click the Screen Saver tab. Choose Flying Objects from the list. Click on the Settings button. Click the Style drop-down list and choose Textured Flag. Click on the Texture button. Navigate to the location of your file, and select it. Click the Open button. Change settings as required for Resolution and Size, using the slider buttons. Click OK. Choose a delay time (eg 10 minutes). Click Preview to test it. Click OK when done. In case you don't have a BMP picture, try these: http://webby.com/humor/catwow.bmp http://webby.com/humor/crazy-here-a.bmp Beware though, BMP files are huge! They will take a some time to download. Have FUN Dear Webby
