DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

Tech Support Pits column from Dear Webby's Humor Letter of
09/12/03: File Shredder
Tech Support Pits:
From Cass===
Hi there, since I received such great advice last time, I will ask
another one....I heard that even reformatiing your hard drive
will still leave stuff on your puter, so what free program have
you heard about that will erase everything? Does this even
apply, or will reformatting work just fine?
Thanks in advance!
Cass
Dear Cass
"Spybot-Search&Destroy" has a shredder in it's TOOLS section.
Just use that to get rid of your nefarious Bingo schemes or
whatever it is that you worry, that it might get you thrown in jail
or kicked out of the bridge club.
Have FUN
