| DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

What is the best resolution to use on a machine that is
used half of the time for a home business, but also by
my hubby and the kids for games?
There is no best resolution for such different uses.
For business, you likely have a number of different windows
open at the same time, and you want a high resolution. I run
mine at 1920 x 1440.
For games you would usually use a very low resolution
like 800 x 600, or even lower.
Changing the resolution is easy. Messing with the
appearance and changing the font sizes is too tedious for
doing it by hand every day. However, there are programs
available to save your desktop and restore it.
The best free one seems to be "Restore Desktop"
