DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

Tech Support Pits column from Dear Webby's Humor Letter of
10/10/04: Connectiong computer to stereo
Tech Support Pits:
From MaryEllen===
Dear Webby,
You suggested connecting the computer's sound card
to the home sound system. I tried that, but on the computer
there are only sockets for thin little plugs like the earphone
plugs, and the stereo only has fat ones. How are they
matched up ?
MaryEllen
Dear MaryEllen
Just go to the RadioShack and ask for a "Y adapter" like
for example part number 42-2481N. It has the 1/8" plug,
like the computer earphones use, on one end, and two phono
plugs on the other end.
Most music stores have those Y adapters. They are also
used to go between portable CD players and home stereos.
