DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

Tech Support Pits column from Dear Webby's Humor Letter of
10/20/04: On-Line Translator
Tech Support Pits:
From Jan===
Dear Webby,
I have a rather unique question. I have been
getting emails in German, from family of my
Grandfather. (Yes, they really are) I of course
no German at all. I am wondering if there is
somewhere to translate to English on line? There
was an older lady in town that used to translate
for me, but she has passed on now. Would
appreciate any help, thanks,
Jan
Dear Jan
On the left side in the Humor Letter is a link to
the Babelfish, the most used on-line translator.
It's not perfect, but good enough for family type mail.
If something is too confusing, just forward it to me
and I'll translate it. (If it isn't too long)
Have FUN!
