| DearWebby is actually Helmut Morscher, the CEO of Webby, inc.
Originally the "Tech Support Pits" were reports of the funniest tech support incidents, but over the years the
column gradually shifted to answering tech support questions put forward by the readers of the Dear
Webby Humor Letter.
This collection of computer and web advice was started partly because readers demanded an archive, and partly
because some questions were asked again and again. Each page has a different day's Tech Support Pits column.

I tried to buy a hard drive from a local computer store,
and they wanted more for it than what Dell wants for a
brand new computer with monitor! How can they do that?
Norton, AOL, and others like them, consider new computers
as advertising billboards and pay part of their cost, as
long as the manufacturer puts their stuff onto them.
If the current trend continues, pretty soon you'll be able
to get computers for free, just like cell phones, IF you
sign a contract to buy services for a year or two.
